Please Do Not Turn Off Your Console

Welcome to the internet's newest, best fighting games podcast. That's right, we're here to ramble about playing Mortal Kombat on the SNES, Killer Instinct, and some other fighting games which don't immediately spring to mind but trust me we talk about them too. Aaron bought a fight stick! Paul disapproves, but not really that much! You'll probably hear more about that all next week, seeing as how the fight stick hasn't actually arrived yet!

Also up for discussion: Shovel Knight, Pillars of Eternity, D4, Arkham Knight, and forty goddamn dollars.

Opening music is Back to the Light by Jun Fukuda off of Killer 7. Closing music is Rave On, by Masafumu Takada, also off of Killer 7.

It's another episode of Please Do Not Turn Off Your Console, a podcast all about video games and only those things. Sit back, relax, and enjoy what we assume is your evening or work day by listening to us talk about that new Star Wars cartoon, a brief talk about Daredevil, and what Paul's baby just did in its diaper.

Also: Mortal Kombat X, Rogue Legacy, Axiom Verge, and oh yeah, Aaron is probably going to wind up owning a fightstick and it is all Jason Oestreicher's fault. Discuss the creation of a fighting game scrub league, the bully pulpit, and more! Send your encouragement to Aaron to make this poor investment to @turnoffconsole on Twitter and turnoffyourconsole@gmail.com. Also you can comment on the website itself apparently and we've just never noticed?

Like, hello listeners, we're uh, like, back from a lengthy, like, absence. In our defense, Aaron was out of the country and Paul was having a baby, so fuck you, we had other, like, stuff going on. Still, we've rallied to bring you the absolute best in video game discussion of obsolete games and other assorted nonsense, and should be back on a regular schedule moving forward. I mean, except for baby stuff, because that shit can cause a man to, I don't know, fall asleep instead of record a podcast on time.

In this episode: Aaron made a Twine game, sort of! Paul played a lot of a broken Mortal Kombat X mobile game! We both played a lot of Mortal Kombat 9, because why not! Aaron also checked out Westerado (which you can find on Steam) and suffered an unfortunate relapse into a long-suppressed Salty Bet addiction. He will seek treatment for that and for saying like all the goddamn time, Jesus CHRIST.

We're back, dear listeners, and we have some things to talk to you about. Like Aaron's adventures in Orlando, and the many terrible things Monster energy drinks taste like. Oh yeah, and we talk about some games too: Pillars of Eternity is out, and that's worth discussing (as is Aaron's stated desire for Beamdog to do what they did to Baldur's Gate to Planescape: Torment. Seriously, Beamdog. I believe in you. Make it happen).

There's also some talk about the surprisingly delightful (and free, for now), Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast and Furious, gloss over some news about Nintendo and Konami, and at least a brief discussion of Don Bluth just to keep your appetites for Don Bluth discussions whetted. Aaron's gone for the next few weeks, so BE STRONG, Listeners, we'll be back on 4/20.

We hit the ground running to make up for another day late podcast, and get right into the meat of the matter--namely, figuring out what to call Aaron's new car, what Red Bull Zero: Orange Edition tastes like, finding important uses for old iPods, the Tron cinematic universe, and of course, hidden penises. All this and we talked about video games too--Lords of the Fallen, Rayman Legends, and some other stuff we kind of rush through. Listen, won't you?

Hark, dear listener, to a tale of love and loss, a tale set in a fantastical land, the tale of our totally Original Character and Jim from Treasure Planet. The show lays down the law on Don Bluth films, discovers whether or not he's dead, gets into a brief argument about Titan A.E, and finds out whether or not these two crazy kids will make it after all...or we would have, if Paul hadn't stopped reading.

Also this is a video game podcast, so we talk Abyss Odyssey, the immenent arrival of Metal Gear Solid V, serve up a hot take on The Order: 1886, and discuss why in the world we've decided to pick up Resident Evil 6 again.

You can send us your opinions at turnoffyourconsole@gmail.com, but you and I both know you probably won't. Jerk.

Look, we've all got stuff we should be doing right now, so let's through this and get on with our lives, okay? Aaron, you have some things to say about Alien Isolation now that you've actually gotten a little further in, right? Yeah, lay that out right now. Get going. Faster! Paul, talk about that Sword Coast Legends stuff! Quick! Ugh, I guess you can talk about Puyo Puyo Tetris a little. Christ, are you hourly, or what?

Alright get out of here, you've got more important things to do! Get going! Short show!

It is a terrible night to have a curse, which is our way of saying we experienced not one, but TWO recording errors tonight, but it's okay, those were a crappy ten minutes of show anyway. You won't even miss them, I promise.

On the docket tonight: Aaron and Paul both got Alien: Isolation and it scared them both terribly, with some hot talk about Far Cry 2, Titanfall, Fear Effect 2, and Castlevania 64! Only the hottest new games are up for discussion here at PDNTOYC. Plus, we both express a hope that Kanye West discovers RPG Maker, and soon.

You can contact us at turnoffyourconsole@gmail.com, or on twitter @turnoffconsole. Sometimes we even respond!

That's right, it's a special behind the scenes look at the making of Please Do Not Turn Off Your Console! Thrill as we discuss Paul's cat rubbing his butt on the microphone, the relative brightness of Aaron's webcam setup, and the magic of Paul's wife wandering in and out of sight.

There's also plenty of video games to talk about, like Darkest Dungeon, Far Cry 4, and that hot new title, Skyrim! Plus, Paul found some game called Sword Coast Legends that he'd like to talk about. We even promise to talk about Peter Molyneux but fail to deliver because Aaron wants to bring up Pathologic again!

Send us your love/hate/pictures of our url written on a bathroom stall: turnoffyourconsole@gmail.com, @turnoffconsole on twitter.

Exciting!

Or is it Life is Constellation? Lost...Life is Constellation Strange? We're so confused, and so bad at remembering the names of things. Point being, Aaron's played them both and he's super into  Lost Constellation. Also Life is strange. I knew we'd get there in the end.

Also we're bad at not playing Far Cry 4 instead of recording a podcast, like we should have done last week. So sorry that you will never know all the great Super Bowl jokes we had ready to go, but life will carry on, we promise. There's a lot of news about places shutting down to talk about, and more importantly they released a gameplay trailer for Persona 5 and it looks real good. This and more in your weekly (except when it's not) installment of what is fast becoming the hottest video game podcast that twenty people on average listen to.

I was going to include our email address and twitter account, but I've decided not to, because NOBODY EVER CONTACTS US ANYWAY ;___;
